Test 24-HOUR URINALYSIS
Finalidad:
This test is indicated for the analysis of various substances in 24-hour urine, such as urea, creatinine, calcium, etc. that are derived from the “Haem” group, a constituent of haemoglobin.
The aim of this collection is to assess the urinary elimination of the different metabolites in a standardised time and thus to gain a better understanding of renal function.

Preparación:
In general, no diet or preparation is required, unless otherwise indicated by the prescribing physician.
24 HOUR URINE ANALYSIS FOR AC. VANILMANDELIC, CATECHOLAMINES AND METANEPHHRINES: If prior preparation is required (see attached below)
Procedimiento:
A 24-hour urine collection bottle sold in pharmacies should be available, if the patient thinks that he/she urinates more than 2 litres per day, 2 bottles should be available.
It involves collecting all urine for 24 hours, exchanging the first urine of the morning of the day you start collecting for the first urine of the morning of the day you finish collecting.
That is, on the day you start 24-hour urine collection, do NOT collect the first urine in the morning, that volume is flushed down the toilet. After that, all urine shall be collected in the collection bottle, morning, afternoon and evening (in the case of night-time urination).
The next morning, the first urine of the morning is collected in the 24 h collection bottle.
The vial(s) must be returned to the laboratory on the same day as the collection is completed.
The collection bottle or container shall be kept in a refrigerator for 24 hours during collection.
