Finalidad:
PROTOCOL FOR SEMEN COLLECTION FOR POST-VASECTOMY CONTROL: To assess the fertility of sperm following vasectomy.
PROTOCOL FOR SEMEN COLLECTION FOR FERTILITY STUDIES: The purpose of the test is the basic morphological and numerical analysis of the spermatozoa in the male ejaculate.
Preparación:
- Maintain sexual abstinence for 3 to 5 days, never more than 7 days.
- Do not collect the sample if fever or illness has occurred within the previous 7 days.
Procedimiento:
- Empty the bladder before collecting semen.
- Wash hands and genitals with soap, rinsing thoroughly with water.
- Obtain semen by masturbation, collecting the entire sample.
- Do not use condoms to collect the sample.
- Collect the sample in a sterile wide-mouth plastic container.
- Protect semen from light, cold and intense heat. Try to carry it close to the body to keep it at the right temperature (as close to 36°C as possible, which is the usual body temperature).
- The sample must be delivered to the hospital’s collection office within 60 minutes of collection.
